What it does remind me of is the McLuhan/Ong contention that literacy, and so, I guess, text based on-line communication, represents an impoverished and disfigured sort of communication when compared with the more sensorially rich experience of being in the presence of another person. This could give rise to a more general critique of the relevance and limitations of 'information' although I'm not quite sure what this would look like.
